  • 1 lb beef strips (sirloin or ribeye)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Marinate beef: Combine soy sauce, hoisin sauce, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil in a bowl. Add beef strips and let marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Cook onions: Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté sliced onions until caramelized. Season with salt and pepper and set aside.
  3. Sear beef: In the same skillet, increase heat to high and add the marinated beef strips. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until browned.
  4. Make sauce: Whisk together remaining soy sauce, rice vinegar, and cornstarch in a bowl. Pour over cooked beef and simmer until thickened.
  5. Combine & serve: Mix sautéed onions back into the pan with beef and serve hot over rice or noodles.
