- 1 lb beef strips (sirloin or ribeye)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Marinate beef: Combine soy sauce, hoisin sauce, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil in a bowl. Add beef strips and let marinate for 10-15 minutes.
- Cook onions: Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté sliced onions until caramelized. Season with salt and pepper and set aside.
- Sear beef: In the same skillet, increase heat to high and add the marinated beef strips. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until browned.
- Make sauce: Whisk together remaining soy sauce, rice vinegar, and cornstarch in a bowl. Pour over cooked beef and simmer until thickened.
- Combine & serve: Mix sautéed onions back into the pan with beef and serve hot over rice or noodles.
