  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter or vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 1/2 cups very hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
  3. In another bowl, combine pumpkin puree, milk, melted butter (or vegetable oil), and vanilla; stir until smooth.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients until you have a thick batter.
  5. Pour the batter into an 8-inch casserole dish. In a separate bowl, mix granulated sugar, brown sugar, and chopped pecans; sprinkle evenly on top of the batter.
  6. Carefully pour 1 ½ cups of very hot water over the entire dish without stirring.
  7. Bake for about 40 minutes until set. Allow to cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
