  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breast (cubed)
  • 16 ounces turkey sausage (sliced)
  • 1 medium white onion (diced)
  • 4 medium celery ribs (sliced)
  • 1 medium green bell pepper (diced)
  • 1 medium jalapeño (minced)
  • 4 cloves minced garlic
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 (15 ounce cans) great northern beans (drained)
  • 1/2 pound raw shrimp (peeled and deveined, tails removed)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add cubed chicken and sliced turkey sausage; cook until browned.
  2. Stir in diced onion, celery, green bell pepper, and minced jalapeño; sauté until soft.
  3. Add minced garlic, cumin, smoked paprika, chili powder, cayenne pepper, and flour; cook for 1–2 minutes.
  4. Gradually pour in chicken broth and add great northern beans; bring to a simmer for about 10 minutes.
  5. If using shrimp, stir in raw shrimp and heavy cream; cook until shrimp turn pink (about 2–3 minutes).
